Account Deletion – RealSwipe

1. Overview

RealSwipe is a social discovery platform that enables users to connect with others who are present at the same venues or events in real time.

We provide users with the ability to delete their account at any time. This page explains how the deletion process operates and how associated personal data is handled.

2. Initiating Account Deletion

Users may delete their account directly within the RealSwipe application:

  1. Open the RealSwipe app
  2. Navigate to Profile
  3. Select Settings
  4. Tap "Delete Account"
  5. Confirm the deletion request

Upon confirmation, the account enters the deletion workflow.

3. Immediate Effect of Deletion

Once deletion is initiated:

  • The user profile is immediately removed from visibility
  • The account is disabled
  • The user is no longer searchable or discoverable
  • Social interactions are terminated

At this stage, the account is no longer accessible to other users.

4. Data Handling Following Deletion

Following initiation of deletion, RealSwipe applies a staged data erasure process:

A. Removal from Active Systems

Personal data is removed from active production environments and is no longer processed for platform functionality.

B. Secure Retention Window

For a limited period, certain data elements may be retained in a restricted state for:

  • Account recovery (if the user logs back in within the retention window)
  • Fraud prevention and abuse investigations
  • Platform integrity and security monitoring
  • Legal compliance obligations

If a user re-authenticates during this retention window, the deletion request may be reversed and the account restored.

C. Permanent Erasure

If the account is not restored within the retention period:

  • Associated personal data is permanently deleted from active systems
  • Encrypted backups are automatically overwritten within 30 days
  • Residual technical logs may be retained for up to 90 days for security and compliance purposes

After completion of this process, the account cannot be recovered.

5. Categories of Data Subject to Deletion

Upon completion of permanent deletion, the following categories of data are erased from active systems:

  • Profile information (name, bio, preferences, prompts, age/date of birth)
  • Uploaded media (photos and content)
  • Messages and interaction history
  • Venue check-in records
  • Authentication credentials
  • Device identifiers associated with the account

Aggregated or anonymised data that does not identify an individual may be retained for analytical and operational purposes.

6. Legal & Regulatory Retention

RealSwipe may retain limited data where required by:

  • Applicable law
  • Regulatory requirements
  • Fraud prevention and abuse investigations

Such retained data is stored securely and is not used for marketing or profiling purposes.

7. Important Notice

  • Deletion is irreversible once permanent erasure is completed.
  • Restoration is only possible during the limited retention window.
